Downpatrick Head

Dún Briste - Downpatrick Head

Along the Wild Atlantic Way, Ballycastle, Mayo

Visit the magnificent Downpatrick Head, 5kms north of the little town Ballycastle, Co. Mayo.

Embrace the stunning views of the incredible sea stack, sea cliffs and wild rugged Stags of Broadhaven. Experience the breathtaking Dún Briste and Poll na Scantoine (blowhole), ruins of a historic church along the wild cliff walk.

Legend has it, St. Patrick himself built a church on the grounds and a stone marker is present today where it supposedly once stood. The area also has connections with World War II, an aerial marker 'ÉIRE 64' is visible and showed Ireland's neutrality in the war.

A visit to Downpatrick Head is highly recommended and is only a short 30 minute drive from the Ballina Manor Hotel.
